Who we are

We, Alan and Nancy Brown, are big believers in keeping things as close to nature as possible. Along with Colin Brown, we raise grass-fed and grass-finished beef and pasture raised, GMO free pork on land that is Certified Organic by NOFA-NY. In addition to selling our meats at Farmers Markets in Dorset, VT and Saratoga Springs, NY each weekend, we also sell to CSA groups and Buying Clubs in the NYC Metro Area and the Hudson Valley. We offer the products from over 35 local family farms and producers, including 9 kinds of meat, lots of cheese, bread, flour, grains, lacto-fermented vegetables, pastas, jams and chutneys, and much much more!

What we believe

We believe in consuming fresh, natural, locally grown foods. We want all of our food to come from a wholesome, sustainable, earth-friendly environment. We farm with no synthetics or chemicals so our products are as pure as possible. What you eat is important to your body and your soul!

A natural life

Our farm ranges across 250 acres of pastures, hayfields, and forests, with an additional 200 acres of nearby hayfields (also Certified Organic by NOFA-NY). Our cattle are not raised in confinement or on an unnatural grain diet. Instead, they are quite happy in scenic pastures. The practice of rotational grazing encourages the growth of native forage and the recycling of nutrients making for healthier soils. Our mixed breed pigs are happy pigs. The animals live a low-stress life. They run and root around, eating fresh forage from the pasture in summer, and hay in the winter. They enjoy preening, rolling around in mud and taking sunbaths in the middle of the field.
